Spa310 uses the latest laser technology to remove unwanted hair, pigmented lesions or “brown spots,” reduce the appearance of spider veins, common facial angioma and Rosacea -patterns of redness on the face. Laser treatments are typically painless (mild discomfort may occur for longer treatments) appointment times may vary from 30 minutes to an hour.
The spa provides you with specialized laser treatments and expertise to return your skin to a healthier, younger apperance. Our team of licensed and experienced master aestheticians operate the laser under the supervision of our physician.
How does the laser remove hair?
The laser emits beam of light that is attracted to the pigment or melanin in the hair follicle that is in an active growing cycle. Pre-determined pulse duration energy settings are directed at and adsorbed by the hair follicles, disabling the growth of the follicles, resulting in quick safe and effective hair removal.
What skin types and skin colors can be treated with laser hair removal?
Spa310’s Cynosure Apogee Elite System is designed for all skin types, and is an effective hair removal treatment for the broadest range of clients. Its revolutionary technology combines two optimal wavelengths in one system: the 755 –nm Alexandrite laser (for light skin) and the 1064-nm ND; YAG laser (for dark skin).
How many laser treatments will I need?
It has been our experience that most of our patients are able to discontinue treatments, knowing they will probably need an occasional touchup, after an average of 4-6 treatments, providing that the recommended treatment schedule is followed. It is also important to understand that results may vary depending on the individual’s hair type, their stress levels, certain medications and different hormone levels. Keep in mind some individuals will require fewer treatments and some will require more treatments, depending on the results desired.
What is the advantage of using a laser?
Lasers are precise instrument that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. The laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once instead of treating hair-by-hair like electrolysis. Because of this, large areas such as your leg, arms, or back can be treated in a short period of time. You will see results that last far longer than tweezing, waxing, shaving, chemical depilation, or other temporary methods.
Does it matter if my hair is light and very fine? White, gray, or red in color?
Hair color is an important factor in determining eligibility for laser hair removal. The light emitted from the laser is attracted to the dark pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle, these hair colors may not have enough pigment to be successfully treated with the laser. This means that dark hair is treated most effectively, and treatments performed on red, blonde, and gray hair are not generally effective…
Is laser hair removal permanent?
The FDA has cleared laser hair removal, regardless of the laser, for “Permanent Hair Reduction” only. Based on our experience we believe that the hair will probably not re-grow. Each individuals treatment response may be different because of their hair or skin type and given that there are between 500 and 1,000 follicles per square cm, of which many are dormant and at the time of treatment, we have no way of knowing if and when that may start growing due to stress levels, certain medications and different hormone levels.
No tweezing, waxing, depilatory or bleaching for a minimum of four weeks prior to your first laser hair removal treatment. We ask that you refrain from any tweezing, waxing, depilatory or bleaching during the entire laser treatment process; these methods will interfere with the laser and may result in requiring more treatments to achieve desired results.
Shaving is permitted during laser treatments.
Sun exposure and tanning beds should be avoided for several days’ pre and post treatment to avoid blistering. If sun exposure is unavoidable, use a minimum of SPF30 Sunscreen. If you have fair skin and light hair we recommend no sun exposure.
Recommendation is four weeks prior to, during and after the course of any laser treatment.
Discontinue use of self tanner or spray tans two weeks prior to laser hair removal treatments for maximum hair reduction.
Please wait a minimum of two weeks after your treatment to reapply, in order to avoid discoloring.
Your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
Shave the treatment area within 24 hours prior to your laser hair removal appointment (additional charges will apply for shaving). Remove any make-up deodorants, and/or lotions in the treatment area immediately prior to treatment.
If you take antibiotics or any other medications that may make you photo sensitive, please let us know. We may have to reschedule your appointment. Also notify the esthetician if there has been any change in your health status (new medications, heart condition, etc.)
The treatment does have a slight prickly or stinging sensation. Most of our clients are able to tolerate the treatment without difficulty. However, since every person’s level off sensitivity is different and treatment areas vary, a topical numbing cream is available for purchase, and must be applied by the client 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment.
We ask that you arrive 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment time, in order to fill out necessary forms. You can expect your initial laser hair removal appointment to take between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Follow up appointments usually take 15 to 30 minutes.
After your initial treatment, you should enjoy significant reduction of hair. However, it will take two to four weeks for the treated hair to push its way to the surface and will fall out. With each treatment, the hair in the active growing phase will be effectively treated. A follow up appointment is scheduled 4-8 weeks after each treatment. With that in mind, remember the importance of maintaining your follow up appointments.
A minimum SPF of 30 Sunscreen (UVA/UVB) should be used for any sun exposure between your treatments. Sun tanning and tanning beds should be avoided until any redness and discoloration disappears following treatment, and in-between treatments.
Avoid any strenuous workout, hot tubs and spas for 24 hours after treatment
Care should be taken to prevent trauma to the treated area for the first 24 hours following treatment
If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply bactine and contact us. Also for further protection, keep the affected area covered and moist with aquaphor and avoid direct sunlight while experiencing these symptoms. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post treatment.
Cold packs, Aquaphor, or cortisone cream may be used to ease any temporary discomfort.
For your convenience, we have all necessary consent forms available for download and print on the website. Please do so before your appointment.
